It is my duty as an avid Lady Gaga monster to protect and defend my Lady’s honor at all costs! UW-Whitewater of The University of Wisconsin’s college paper Royal Purple, just recently reviewed Lady Gaga’s new cd. For starters this girl has it out for pop music, she doesn’t even like it, especially when she spouts shit like: “Alejandro” and “Dance in the Dark” are reminiscent of “Bad Romance’s” rough and edgy verses but the 90s-esque choruses make the listener to want to skip through the 15 seconds of total crap.” I’m sorry Victoria Vlisides, but you do not understand the genius that is Lady Gaga. You just don’t get it at all. Beyond that she has no idea what any of the songs are actually about and anyone who believes “So Happy I Could Die” is the most catchiest song on the album doesn’t deserve to review pop music.
Read her review on my screen shot below or click the link: Music review: “The Fame Monster” by Victoria Vlisides from http://www.royalpurplenews.com.

Now whether or not the Royal Purple deems my comment acceptable on their website is up to them. But here was my speech to her about her and her review:
“Your greatest misinterpretation about Lady Gaga’s “light and fluffy” music is the underlying message. She is not singing about dancing in the dark or looking for bad romances. She is cleverly singing about complex and human issues. For the listener who cannot handle the deeper meaning they can just simply think it’s about (“Bad Romance”) having bad relationships. To understand this album you must look deeper and realize that each song is about different kinds of fear.
“Bad Romance” is fear of love. “I want your psycho” doesn’t mean she wants you to kill her, it means she wants to know the deepest darkest parts of you. As far as the “…lyrics spoken in French for no apparent reason,” it is obvious: Paris is considered the fashion capital of the world. To speak French is to speak fashion.
I disagree with your opinion that “So Happy I Could Die” is her catchiest song. Of all her songs it is the most “repetitious garbage” on the album. (Although, I wouldn’t call anything she does “garbage.”)
You are more comfortable with her debut album because it’s what you know. I challenge you to take another listen, even if you do not care for Pop music. Lady Gaga takes “light and fluffy” music to the next level.
Look back at all the Pop songs and you’ll see there is substance that the general public has overlooked. My advice to you is to listen to the CD again and experience the genius that is Lady Gaga. I promise that in one year’s time you will be eating your words as she takes over the Pop charts, once again.”
Anyways I don’t hate Victoria Vlisides, but I definitely don’t care for her review on Lady Gaga’s magical cd either. May she take heed to my words and give our beloved Gaga a second chance!

This is the author of the review you are critiquing. I am actually a journalist and not a blogger. As a Lady Gaga fan and a huge pop music fan, I removed my bias to review this album. That’s my responsibility to the reader. Saying I “have it out for pop music” couldn’t be further from the truth. I happen to be one of the hugest Britney Spears fans out there. But I consider myself a music fan, not just a pop fan, because there are so many different and amazing types of music.
It’s not my duty to defend anyone’s honor, yet it seems you’ve made it your job to defend Lady Gaga’s. I think Lady Gaga is actually one of the best things to hit any music scene, however, I thought her album was rushed. She should have waited to produce something mind-blowing because her first album was such a massive success.
I am a journalist, not a Gaga blogger. Yes, die-hard fans will love Gaga’s CD no matter what, but sometimes, you have to look at the overall musical quality, which you obviously disagree with me on, and that’s fine. Write your own review next time. Don’t sit around and wait for peoples’ “negative” opinions and critique as if you aren’t bias.

I may be biased, but I do believe you should give The Fame Monster another chance! Admittedly I am a die hard fan of Lady Gaga and I myself I’m very eclectic in all sorts of music as well. I’m glad to know that you do not have it out for pop music and I apologize for saying so. I respect the removal of your own bias from the review and wish you nothing but success in your journalism career!
As for the article itself, was brought to my attention by an alumnus of the Royal Purple. I myself use to work as a freelance graphic artist at the RP and wish no hate on any of my fellow RP peeps! Just gotta defend Lady Gaga’s honor as one of her little monsters!
Sincerely,
Joey
P.S. I loved Britney since her rise on the scene! What do you think of the single 3? I do not think it’s her best work at all, much more of an after thought than an actual true Britney song!

Yeah. I really didn’t love 3 all that much when I first heard it … but now of course, I do love it, haha. Britney 4 lyfe.
Also, I will admit, I am pretty fond of Bad Romance now. I guess it was just a shock. It did take me quite a few listens to warm up to it though, as I stated in the the article. I was pretty harsh on Gaga, but that’s only because I had really, really, really high expectations. I’ll always be a Britney die-hard fan at heart though =]
PS- there are some sweeet Gaga and Britney club mixes here: http://www.youtube.com/user/spazdor#p/u/3/IItOfSfEH5w
